Hello All!

Hello hello fellow Moly friends! I apologize for my lack of updating and posting on the blog, I'm sure we can all agree life can get very busy. I do have one shot of the work I did in Thereza's journal that I sent to Tiphoni at the end of April/beginning of May. I believe it should have shipped to her home well before now, I hope it's made it there safely! :D

moly 5 exchange

At the moment, I do not have any journal to work on and am patiently waiting for the next one. So far so good though I believe! Everyone else's work is fantastic so far, I can't wait to see how much progress we make :D

xxo Mae Jane

Almost Time

Is anybody out there? :-) It's almost time to send out your Molys to the next person, if you haven't already. I just need to color in the pages of Tiphoni's and plan to send it out to Marisilla later this week. I'm a bit concerned that no one else has been posting here...Marisilla said she's working on hers....anyone else?

Tiphoni’s Moly

I was thrilled to receive Tiphoni’s Moly while at Artfest. We figured it was even better than by way of mail, since we were going to see each other anyway!

Tiphoni: I’m a little nervous about adding on to your beautiful illustration, but I’ll do my best!

Back at home

Sorry I haven't been too active on our blog here. I was at an art retreat last week. At the art retreat, I received Tiphoni's journal, which I will post scans of sometime this week. Mae Jane should be sending hers along to Tiphoni...Mae Jane: have you sent it?

I sent my Moleskine to Marisa today, but I forgot to take a picture of the envelope! I guess in my haste to get to the post office, it slipped my mind...Not sure when it will be there. I sent it first-class international...

Thereza's artwork on Marisilla's moleskine

i just can't put into words how much i enjoyed doing this work on Marisa's book. i thought i'd sketch loads before i went to it but the idea came quite spontaneously, it felt like a continuation of the narrative she started. loving every minute of it! can't wait to get my hands on the next! :D

Got my pages done...

These first two pages have the guidelines for the theme...

I basically used the “5” theme as “When I was 5”. But you can use 5 in your pages any way you want! And that’s a picture of me at my 5th birthday party...

Marisa: I will be posting this to you on Monday.

Themes

I said this at the beginning: you don’t HAVE to have a theme in your book, but I’m thinking about a “Five” theme for mine. Since we’re the fifth group and we have five members...anyone else doing a theme in their book?

What is the Moleskine Exchange?

This group is an extension of the Moleskine Exchange. This blog will follow the adventure of a group of artists around the world, in a Japanese fold Moleskine sketchbook exchange.

Each artist will set off with a small Japanese (accordian) folded Moleskine. Creating a drawing, collage, or painting, then send on to the next artist. Each artist will draw on a couple of spreads (4-5 pages) then send it on to the next artist. When the artists book is filled, it will be returned to the owner with images created by artist around the world. Each artist has a month to make an entry. The outcome will be a pleasant and surprising adventure, as artists are encouraged to interact and merge their art with others.

Project originally begun by Marty Harris, Minnesota, USA. This group was set up by Dawn Sokol, USA.

The concept:

1.
The artists start with the Japanese fold Moleskine - Name, address, email address written in book.

2.
Each artist gets 1 month to make a sketchbook entry, and mail it to the next person. The order is listed to the right.

3. Each artist will do 4-5 pages each round.

4. Artists are encouraged to interact with other images in the book. Please be respectful.

5.
When the book is full, when one side of the unfolded book is filled, the book will be sent back to its original owner. That artist may continue by buying a new book and sending it to the next person.

6. If a person decides not to continue, she will simply keep her book when it comes back to her. She should email all of the participants to say she is not going to continue. We will decide, then, if we want to find a new person.

7. Please communicate regularly via email. Let each person know that you have received/sent the book. The goal is to have a dialogue. Any comments and questions are welcome.
